Invoicing gone easy: SimpleInvoices

With the  Laptop order management system delivered to the client as per previous requirement , I got a positive feedback and a great review. :)
BestBuy added another faithful customer to its clientele.
The feedback also pointed out for a need of a robust invoicing system missing in the previously built application.
I was brooding one day over the possibility of not outsourcing this task to any vendor and rather try to find out if there are any available ERP application modules which can serve this task over the web.
With the cloud computing mantra on the rise all the more , finding one such application was a cakewalk i thought.

It turned out to be a lot more difficult than i thought.Thousands of applications to choose from and choosing the one with simple interface and the one which can be easily integrated with the exisitng application without any difficulty for the client given his limited knowledge in this domain.

Also i had to find out a hosting platform where these applications could be supported.
I  tried a lot of applications like  -:
- Front Accounting
- NetSuite
- Phreedom

The search continued until i found one simple and all fulfilling application called "SimpleInvoices".
I have selected the application over the others due to simplicity and ease of access for the administrator
The features include -:

- Can add products/billers/customers as per the services offered.

- Quick and nice looking invoices

- Export to Microsoft Word, Excel or plain text

- Multiple invoice types

- Invoice templates/preferences

- View Reports sorted by billers/customers/products.

- View complete sales report for a firm

Customisations -:
- I have added billers and customers and tried to incorporate logos for the billers in the invoices.

- I have added products like web based services and defined unit price (even though intangible)for the same.
- Have added special service tax rates for the web services provided.

Toy-ing with a business opportunity !!!

Nobody in this not-so-empathetic world would ever want an innocent child wailing for something that he/she wants badly. Even more so if that pity thing is a toy and that too when in today's fast moving world when that toy is just a click away. Yes i am very much talking about the "www" power of the internet.
I was just thinking one day of one such website/web-hosted application which could enable me to order toys online. After searching for such sites , i could not find any well established toy selling vendor with a good presence online.
Me being me  , there i saw a business opportunity for an application which could serve the purpose for the parent community and could make good business for the toy making firms or merchandises.

I contacted an old friend of mine , Atisha,  whom i knew from my post graduation times and also was aware of her application building skills owing to her developer background in a famous IT MNC. I know she could do the task well.

As a responsible customer , i gave her the following requirements and also told her that the specifications were open to discussion on all ends and she could even find and suggest any loopholes.

The specifications include the following -: 

Functional Specification:

Registration:

The user/ administrator has to first register using all the details that are asked i.e. Name, Mobile no. , Address specification, Password. Remember the mobile no. and password  for future login.

A Registration confirmation mail will be sent to the email id given.  Email id  used during registration will receive a mail confirming it registration and containing login id credentials.

Login:

Use  login  credentials for entering and ordering of the goods. Login id  should be specific to name / mobile number/ email id .

The password that has to be used , should be given during registration.

For Customer:

After registering and logging into the application, the customer can go for:

Order : The Customer can order for various toys or sports component like cricket bat, carrom board, Table Tennis bat etc.  In this form we need to enter which toy to order and in what quantity. After we enter the quantity demand  When we enter the details of our order , an order id is created and a status is also retrieved (Passed/ rejected)

Order Confirmation:In this the customer after entering the day would .

Payment Details: customer need to enter the name and contact credentials. So as to confirm the payment .

Payment Confirmation: We will get a  paymentconfirmation mail after the payment and order is finalised.

For Administrator:

Inventory management:  Administrator need to manage the inventory, So in Inventory details you need to have the updated value of quantity of the products available.We will get the updated value of quantity of all the toys that we have

Product Management: When the supplier wants to add new product or remove from the product list. He/she will be able to do the same. Also this would be updated to inventory value of the specific and an inventory, he/she can do from the same source.Thus need to enter the new product name and the quantity that is added to the inventory.

Payment confirmation, the inventory and all should be updated. And after product addition also the inventory will be updated.

Once the administrator enters the order id ,the bill details , like name of the person, quantity demanded  and address is automatically fetched with confirmation note.
